Avon UK Man of the Week: Paul Bond

Man of the Week: Paul Bond Avon

Beauty Entrepreneur, UK

Sales Leader Paul Bond is a star in all senses. As a guitarist in the band Red Box, he has had hits across the world. While his music career is still going strong, Paul also wanted a flexible earnings opportunity that he could make work with his musician’s lifestyle.
He was introduced to Avon by sales leaders Howard and Jane Philpott who showed Paul the earning potential and how it could make it work for him and his family. The timing was perfect, as he had just started a master’s degree in the same week that he joined Avon, so his Avon business supported Paul through his studies.

In his first few weeks, Paul focused on growing his online business quickly, and huge sales through his online store led to him achieving Silver Plus President’s Club level in just six weeks (an accolade most aim for across the whole year). As a result of this, he went on to receive the Direct Sellers Association ’Star of the Year’ award in 2017 which is open to half a million direct sellers in the UK.
Now a sales leader himself, he has a team of Representatives working with him and enjoys helping other people to succeed in their business. One of Paul’s favourite quotes is: “I’m working full time on my income and part-time on my fortune.” His goals for this year is to work Avon full-time.
He says:
“We can all make the Avon opportunity work around or lifestyles, as there are so many ways of earning! On a personal level, the income allows me to spend more time with my family and recording loud guitars in my studio.”
His advice to Representatives just starting on their Avon journey is to keep the faith. He adds:
“For some, it can take a little while to grow a list of regular ordering customers, but you will get there. Don’t simply ‘dip your foot into the water’. If you want to earn a significant income from your Avon business, then treat it like a business.”

“We can all make the Avon opportunity work around or lifestyles, as there are so many ways of earning! ”

How to Make Your Make-Up Last All Day

How to Make Your Make-Up Last All Day

Are you constantly having to top up your make-up throughout the day – or even during a night out? Then we’re here to help. Here are our 5 easy-to-follow tips on how to make your make-up last all day – from priming to applying foundation.

1. EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

Like any piece of art, it all starts with the base. To give your make-up the best chance of looking perfect, start by exfoliating your skin. This works to get rid of any dead skin, leaving your face polished and ready for application.

2. USE ANTI-AGEING MOISTURISERS

Unlike your everyday moisturiser, anti-ageing face creams help to keep your skin looking smooth and firm.
So why is this important? Well, have you ever noticed that sometimes your make-up starts to settle into your lines and wrinkles? With a firming cream, you’ll keep your skin free of lines and your make-up looking fresher for longer.

3. PRIME YOUR SKIN FOR ACTION

To help set your foundation for longer, it’s good to apply a quality face primer. The best primers will not only blur pores and imperfections, they’ll also help to keep your make-up in place.
Top tip: apply primer over your eyelids – it will help your eyeshadow and eyeliner to last longer.

4. CHOOSE LONG-LASTING MAKE-UP

Longwear make-up is another key element to making sure your make-up lasts all day. Start by applying a long-lasting foundation, using a flat brush – this will make sure it’s evenly applied. Finish by dusting a setting powder over your face.
Not sure which foundation is right for you? Find out with our handy guide to finding the perfect foundation.

5. SET IT IN PLACE WITH A SETTING SPRAY

Finally, invest in a quality setting spray. This will make sure that your final look is stopped in time, so that you look as good by the end of the night as you did when you left the house. To use, simply apply your make-up as usual and gently spray it over, leaving time for it to dry on your skin.
We hope our guide has helped you to master making your make-up last all-day. In the meantime, why not check out some of our other blogs. From finding the perfect red lipstick to learning what hyaluronic acid is, it’s time to start swatting up on your beauty knowledge.

The Ultimate Guide to Fragrance UK

Not sure what the difference between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette is? What about top, middle and base notes? If you’re confused already, we’re here to help with the answers to your fragrance-based questions.

EAU DE PARFUM OR EAU DE TOILETTE?

Want to know the difference between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette? It starts with how strong the scent is. Eau de Toilette fragrances have low levels of perfume oil, making them perfect for when you’re at work or don’t fancy anything too potent.
However, if you’re going somewhere fancy or out with friends, then an Eau de Parfum’s intensity (8-15% perfume oils!) will be better suited and will last longer.

WHAT ARE FRAGRANCE NOTES?

All fragrances tend to have top, middle and base notes. These are essentially the layers of the fragrance, denoting the different scents you might recognise.
Top notes: this is the first scent you’ll detect but also the lightest fragrance, and the ones that’ll fade over time.
Middle notes: usually floral or fruity, the middle notes are the centre of your fragrance, bringing the individual scents together.
Base notes: these add depth to your perfume, and they’re usually the scents that last the longest.

THE FRAGRANCE FAMILIES

When looking for a fragrance, you’ll often find the top, middle and base notes described as floral, woody or fruity. To help, we’ve put together a list of the most common fragrance families.
FloralThink light and airy, sweet and feminine. Floral is perfect for daytime fragrances.
Oriental – Just like the climate of distant lands, this scent is warm, intense and spicy. Perfect for evenings out.
Woody – Go back to nature with this earthy, herby and masculine scent.
Citrus - From hints of mandarin to the zingy zest of lemon, a citrusy note will add a freshness to your fragrance.
Fruity – Sweet berries, succulent peaches and juicy apples all fall under the fruity scent, making it the perfect fragrance for the summer.
Fougère – From the French word for ‘fern’, this is a woody, herby and slightly sweet fragrance family that’s traditionally masculine.
